CVSS v3.1 |
| Improper Certificate Validation vulnerability in Apache Camel Knative component.
This issue affects Apache Camel: from 4.0.0 before 4.18.5, from 4.19.0 before 4.22.1.
When SSL was enabled on the Knative HTTP client but no truststore was configured, the client options fell back to trusting every presented certificate rather than to the JVM's default trust anchors. A deployment that switched TLS on without also configuring a truststore therefore obtained an encrypted connection with no peer authentication, which an attacker positioned on the network path can terminate and read. The dangerous state is reached by omission rather than by an explicit opt-in, which is what makes it a framework defect: turning TLS on should not be the thing that turns certificate validation off.
Upgrade to Apache Camel 4.23.0, which fixes the issue. Users on the 4.18.x LTS releases stream should upgrade to 4.18.5. Users on the 4.22.x LTS releases stream should upgrade to 4.22.1. With no truststore configured the trust options are now left unset so the JVM default trust anchors apply, the same fallback SSLContextParameters and the rest of Camel use. Trusting every certificate is now reached only by asking for it explicitly through the trust.all property, which remains available for development against a cluster with a self-signed certificate. For deployments that cannot upgrade immediately, configure a truststore explicitly wherever SSL is enabled. After upgrading, a deployment that was relying on the implicit trust-all behaviour must either configure a truststore or set the trust.all property deliberately. |
| A security vulnerability has been detected in TufayelLUS TikTok-Video-Downloader-PHP up to c4230497bb23dd9c1f81456fe8a982d951feac0d. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the file index.php of the component TLS Handler. Such manipulation leads to improper certificate validation. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The attack requires a high level of complexity. The exploitation is known to be difficult. This product takes the approach of rolling releases to provide continious delivery. Therefore, version details for affected and updated releases are not available. The name of the patch is 64c0155abb88e714198241d41b918cefc0d5a42a. It is advisable to implement a patch to correct this issue. |
| Incomplete X.509 implementation in GnuTLS v3.8.13 allows attackers controlling a subordinate Certificate Authority to bypass cross-domain PKI restrictions and issue unauthorized certificates. |
| A hostname verification bypass in GnuTLS v3.8.13 allows attackers to circumvent the Common Name fallback mechanism and eavesdrop on communications via a crafted certificate. |
| OpenTelemetry opentelemetry-exporter-otlp-proto-http 1.5.0 before 1.45.0 contains an improper certificate validation vulnerability that disables TLS verification when OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_CERTIFICATE variables are empty strings. Man-in-the-middle attackers can impersonate the collector to read or alter exported traces, metrics, and logs, including authentication headers from OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_HEADERS. |
| An issue in gnutls v.3.8.13 allows an attacker to obtain sensitive information via failing to reject end-entity X.509 certificates that contain a contradictory combination of Key Usage (KU) and Extended Key Usage (EKU) |
| A vulnerability has been found in f3-factory fatfree-core up to 3.9.2. This vulnerability affects the function _curl of the file web.php of the component HTTP Client. Such manipulation leads to improper certificate validation. The attack may be performed from remote. Attacks of this nature are highly complex. It is stated that the exploitability is difficult. Upgrading to version 3.9.3 is able to resolve this issue. The name of the patch is a2c755c8dc9ad0eb7d5fd261b09aff90f649433c. You should upgrade the affected component. The vendor was contacted early, responded in a very professional manner and quickly released a fixed version of the affected product. |
| A vulnerability has been identified in Steve where by default it was using an insecure option that did not validate the certificate presented by the remote server while performing a TLS connection. This could allow the execution of a man-in-the-middle (MitM) attack against services using Steve. |
| SWUpdate through 2026.05.1 contains an improper certificate validation vulnerability in crypto/swupdate_cms_verify_openssl.c that trusts untrusted X.509 certificates embedded in CMS SignedData for chain building. Attackers holding a signing key from a sibling intermediate under the same root can embed that intermediate in the signature to install malicious updates. |
| IBM WebSphere Application Server - Liberty 17.0.0.3 through 26.0.0.9 administrative client could allow man-in-the-middle attacks. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to obtain sensitive information. |
| CAI Content Credentials is affected by an Improper Certificate Validation vulnerability that could result in a Security feature bypass. An attacker could leverage this vulnerability to bypass security measures and gain unauthorized write access. Exploit depends on conditions beyond the attacker's control. Exploitation of this issue does not require user interaction. |

| A vulnerability has been identified within Fleet where, by default, Fleet will automatically trust a remote server’s certificate when connecting through SSH if the certificate isn’t set in the `known_hosts` file. This could allow the execution of a man-in-the-middle (MitM) attack against Fleet. In case the server that is being connected to has a trusted entry in the known_hosts file, then Fleet will correctly check the authenticity of the presented certificate. |
| In Eclipse Vert.x versions [5.0.0,5.0.12] or [5.1.0,5.1.9] or [5.2.0, 5.2.0], the Vert.x HTTP client relies on an SSL context for efficiency purpose, the key of this cache should reflect entirely the SSL semantics of the desired SSL properties. It is possible for a client to ask for an SSL context and obtain an SSL context with weaker properties, for instance a context with hostname validation and obtain a context ignoring hostname validation.
The impacted component is io.vertx:vertx-core. |
| In Apache CXF, the Netty-based HTTP client transport (cxf-rt-transports-http-netty-client) did not verify that the hostname in the server’s TLS certificate matched the host being called. This applied over both HTTP/1.1 and HTTP/2, even when disableCNCheck was left at its default value of false. The certificate chain was validated against the configured trust store, but the endpoint’s identity was not. A network attacker able to intercept traffic could present any certificate trusted by the client, such as a publicly issued certificate for a domain they control, and impersonate the target service. They could then read or modify the exchanged messages, including credentials.
Users are recommended to upgrade to versions 4.2.4 or 4.1.9 or 3.6.13, which fix this issue. |
| Improper Certificate Validation vulnerability in hexpm hex_core allows an attacker who can intercept HTTPS connections to impersonate hex.pm, repo.hex.pm or any other repository or API server to programs that use hex_core's default HTTP adapter on Erlang/OTP 24, or on OTP 25 when the operating system's CA certificates can't be loaded.
hex_core:default_config/0 selects the built-in hex_http_httpc adapter. For an HTTPS request whose adapter config has no ssl option, hex_http_httpc:http_options/2 builds options that verify the server certificate against public_key:cacerts_get/0. When that call raises, the adapter prints a warning and sends the request without ssl options, so httpc uses the defaults of the ssl application, which before OTP 26 don't verify the server certificate. public_key:cacerts_get/0 doesn't exist on OTP 24, so every HTTPS request falls back there, and on OTP 25 it raises when no CA store is found. hex_core versions before 0.11.0 never set ssl options, so they don't verify the server certificate on OTP 25 and earlier whether or not a CA store is found.
The fallback was intended and documented, but the documentation didn't make clear that it meant no certificate verification. Since hex_core 0.8.2 the README has warned that the built-in httpc adapter "has insecure default settings" and recommended other HTTP clients, and the adapter prints "using default ssl options which are insecure" on every request that falls back. hex_core 0.11.0 added certificate verification with the changelog entry "Use secure SSL defaults for OTP 25+". Neither the README nor the warning says that the server certificate isn't verified, the README doesn't say which OTP versions the warning applies to, and on OTP 25 without CA certificates the warning tells users to upgrade to OTP 25 or later, which they already run. This advisory is published so that users who took those notices as general advice know their HTTPS requests weren't authenticated.
This issue affects hex_core: from 0.1.0 before 0.20.0. |
